Dr. Ransbarger, MD

Pediatric Ophthalmologist

Dr. Ransbarger grew up in a rural, farming community in Eastern Washington State. She discovered her love for medicine as a teenager, working in the local family practice physician’s office. After graduating from George Fox University with honors, she moved to California to attend Loma Linda University Medical School. There she chose to pursue a career in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus because of how it meaningfully combines clinical and surgical practice. Dr. Ransbarger stayed at Loma Linda University for both her ophthalmology residency and pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship where she had the opportunity to train with renowned ophthalmologists and lifelong mentors. Throughout her years in school, Dr. Ransbarger traveled internationally for education and service to countries including Peru, Spain, Greece, Romania, Guyana, and Bolivia. These experiences gave her an appreciation for diversity of cultures as well as the practice needed to become fluent in Spanish. She is grateful to use these skills when communicating with patients and their families. Her passions are preventing childhood vision loss, educating families, and restoring single vision. While in medical school, Dr. Ransbarger met her husband, a Chico native and ENT surgeon. Upon completion of their residencies, they moved to Chico. They have three vibrant children, two daughters and a son. In her spare time, Dr. Ransbarger enjoys running, cooking, and outdoor adventures with her family.
